What are your office hours?
The Child Support Division hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, EST, Monday thru Friday.
Why do you ask for my social security number when I call for information on my case?
This information helps us to look up your case quickly and also helps to ensure your privacy.
Why do you ask for the names of both parents/parties when I call?
When clients call our office with questions about their case or to report information on their case, the names of both parties are needed to locate the correct file or case.
I want to know what’s going on with my case. Why can’t I talk to my case manager now?
Your case manager may be busy with another client, working to prepare a case for court, or doing any number of other required tasks. You will be called back as soon as possible.
I have information about a parent who is not paying his/her child support. How and where can I report this information?
You may email ChildSupport@co.greene.in.us or call the Child Support Division (812-384-3314).
Why can’t a third party get case information for me?
Due to strict confidentiality rules and regulations of the Indiana Supreme Court and the Internal Revenue Service, information regarding IV-D cases can only be given to a party involved in the case.
Can a third party call to request information or report changes for me?
No. We are no longer able to speak to a third party. All changes to a case must be received by one of the parties of the case.
Are the records held by the IV-D Office public records?
No. Our records are not public records.
What does the Deputy Prosecutor do?
The Deputy Prosecutor oversees work done on cases, interviews clients and takes cases to court.
I want to talk to the Deputy Prosecutor. What should I do?
To speak with the Deputy Prosecutor, you will need to make an appointment.
Isn’t the Deputy Prosecutor my attorney?
The Deputy Prosecutor does not represent clients of our office on a personal basis. The Deputy Prosecutor represents the interest of the State of Indiana rather than any individual client of the Child Support Division.
Why can’t I speak directly to the Deputy Prosecutor when I call?
The Deputy Prosecutor is only in the office on certain days and at certain times.
How can I enforce my visitation rights?
You will need to seek a private attorney or other legal counsel for help with this issue.
Do I have to let my child visit with the other parent?
The Child Support Division cannot answer this question as we are prohibited, by statute, from being involved in any issues except child support.
Does exercising regular visitation reflect on my child support order?
Yes. Credit is given for exercising visitation rights, also known as Parenting Time.
I suspect my child is being abused during the other parent’s visitation.
If you suspect abuse or neglect of your child(ren) (or any child) you should contact the Department of Child Services in the county where the child(ren) resides.
What is an offset?
An offset is a tool used to collect past due child support from absent parents.
How is a parent submitted for an offset? Do I need to fill out or sign any papers to do this?
An absent parent can be submitted for an offset if he/she owes more than specific amounts of past due child support.
How long do I have to wait to receive money from an offset?
It is often difficult for the Child Support Division to know how long it will take to receive the offset money.
I didn’t receive any money through the offset program. Why?
There are no guarantees that any amounts will be collected through tax intercepts.
Why can’t the Child Support Division give me any info about tax refund amounts posted to my case?
Due to Internal Revenue Service regulations, no information regarding tax offsets can be given to anyone, other than the person from whom the offset is being taken.
What is paternity?
Paternity is the relationship between father and child. Establishing paternity is the process of making this a legal relationship.
Why should I establish paternity?
Identity: It’s important to know who we are. Your child will benefit from the sense of belonging that comes from knowing both parents.

How can I get a DNA test?
If the parents completed a paternity affidavit at the hospital or the health department, Indiana law prohibits DNA testing.
My child’s father is living with me. He works and provides for us as a family. Why should I pursue paternity establishment?
Even though you and the other parent are living together with your child as a family, you should still establish paternity for your child.
Where am I suppose to send my child support payments?
Effective July, 2007, child support payments should be sent to the Indiana State Central Collection Unit (INSCCU).
I have questions about the debit card account set up for receiving payments. Who do I call for information about this?

The other parent missed last week’s payment, what should I do?
Generally, the Child Support Division cannot take any action for missed payments until 30 days have elapsed.
The other parent is very far behind in child support payments and isn’t making any effort to pay (or has never paid). What can be done about this?
Tracking down a non-paying parent is frustrating for both custodial parents and case managers.
How can I find out if the absent parent on my case has made a payment?
You may call the KIDS LINE @ 1-800-840-8757.
I need a payment history for proof of income. Can you fax it to me or an agency?
No. Due to IRS regulations, we DO NOT fax any payment histories.
Where is the Greene County Recorder’s Office located?
The Greene County Recorder’s Office is located in Room 120 of the Greene County Courthouse at the corner of Washington and Main Streets in downtown Bloomfield.
How are the fees charged by the Recorder’s Office determined?
The Recorder’s Office is a state constitutional office.
What types of payment does the Recorder’s Office accept?
The Recorder’s Office currently accepts payments of cash or check for all recording fees and copies.
Do you have an online searchable database for recorded deeds and other information?
My credit report shows an Indiana Department of Revenue tax lien on my record. It says this report is on file in the Recorder's Office? How can I get a copy?
Credit bureaus frequently and incorrectly report that state tax liens are filed in the Recorder's Office.
I received a solicitation by mail offering to sell me a copy of the deed to my home. Is this the only way I can obtain this record?
I need to file a document with the Recorder’s Office. Do you provide templates or blank forms that I can fill out to prepare a lien, release, deed or other document?
The Greene County Recorder’s Office provides blank copies of the Certificate of Assumed Business Name form.
Why won’t the Recorder’s Office perform lien searches?
The Recorder’s Office is committed to providing excellent customer service. However, we are also concerned about making sure customers have a complete picture when looking for liens or other claims against property.
If I have a question about whether or not I have prepared a document correctly, will you evaluate it for me before I submit it for recording?
The Recorder’s Office staff is happy to review documents in advance to check for missing recording requirements.
How do I know if I must include the Social Security affirmation statement on my document?
In accordance with Indiana Code IC 36-2-11-15, , most submitted to the Recorder’s Office must contain the affirmation statement.
What is the role of the Recorder’s Office in starting a business?
You are required under Indiana Code 23-15-1-1 to file a fictitious business name statement for a variety of different reasons.
I've paid off my mortgage. When do I receive my deed in the mail?
When you pay off a mortgage, either through refinancing or paying off your home, the bank records a document, called a "release of mortgage," reflecting that milestone.

I wish to dissolve an assumed business name I previously filed with the Recorder’s Office. How do I go about doing that?
You may dissolve an assumed business name by filing another Certificate of Assumed Business Name and inserting “Dissolution of” at the top of the page. The cost is $12.
How do I add or delete a name to the deed to my property?
Consult an attorney to make certain you are executing a deed or instrument which transfers the property rights and interests you wish to transfer.
I need a copy of my birth certificate. Are birth certificates available in the Greene County Recorder’s Office, or somewhere else?
Birth Certificates and Death Certificates are available at the Greene County Health Department.
Does Greene County have building codes or require permits to build or remodel?
Greene County, Indiana, is not subject to planning or zoning ordinances, and the only permit required from the County in order to plan or build residential or commercial properties, or to renovate or remodel same, is a septic permit as regulated by state statute or administrative code or to the extent of local health code ordinances are implicated if property does not have access to a sanitary sewer.
