It is the goal of the Environmental Health Division to reduce the risk of foodborne illness through inspection, education, and enforcement.

Temporary food permits are available for tempoary events within Greene County. For Profit permits are available for up to 14 days for a $35.00 fee. Non-Profit permits are available free of charge with a tax exemption number.

ISDH does not produce hardcopies of the retail food regulation, Indiana State Department of Health Food Rule 410 IAC 7-24 - Eff. Nov. 13, 2004 as with previous rules. Food Establishments are responsible for obtaining and maintaining knowledge of the current rules individually. Retail food establishments shall maintain at least (1) one copy of this rule on the premises at all times. Immediate electronic access to this rule shall be considered acceptable. Obtain a copy of this regulation by using the link provided. You may print a hard copy or save a copy to your computer. Also, a printed version is also available for purchase at the Greene County Health Department for $10.00.

Certified Food Handler Rule The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) Rule 410 IAC 7-24, Certification of Food Handler Requirements, took effect January 1, 2005 and requires that one certified food handler be employed by the retail food establishment. Some establishments are exempt from this rule by menu. Please contact the Greene County Health department to verify exemption and refer to the Frequently Asked Questions for additional guidance. The rule is examination based. Many potential certified food handlers will be seeking out this information, so a list of entities that offer training and approved examinations can be found on ISDH's website at http://www.in.gov/isdh/21059.htm .

Employee Health Policy- the purpose of an illness reporting policy is to ensure that all food employees notify management when they experience an illness or condition and that the appropriate steps are taken to preclude the transmission od foodborne illness or communicable disease. Every facility should have written Employee Health Policy in place.
