Question

The other parent missed last week’s payment, what should I do?

Answer

Generally, the Child Support Division cannot take any action for missed payments until 30 days have elapsed.

There could be a good reason for missing payments, such as losing a job or being sick and not able to work for a short period of time.  If the other parent has lost a job and is eligible for unemployment benefits, it often takes a few weeks for those benefits to begin.  PLEASE NOTE:  Some employers only remit child support payment once a month.
